I am often asked, “What got you into doing massage?”
I have memories of giving massages to my then 19-year-old sister, at the young age of five. Offering massage as a way to build connection in our family was something I greatly valued. Little did I know, later it would become the catalyst for my own personal healing and growth.
Like most people, I didn’t learn much about self-care or how to truly love and value myself. As a teen, I struggled with addictions, lots of hardships, and depression. Attending massage school right out of high school was the first big step to embarking on a very healing and transformational time. I was so ready!
Being immersed in a safe, supportive environment and receiving lots of healing sessions from fellow students and gifted teachers allowed me the space to relieve the burdens and woundedness I had been carrying. I clearly remember a natural feeling of lightness and peace emerging from deep within myself. My eyes were opened to seeing the world around me with a new beauty and brightness I had never remembered before. These changes ignited a desire for more healthy changes in my life. I started eating more fresh, unprocessed foods, cultivating a more positive mindset, adopting a healthier lifestyle, and more meaningful relationships. The old, unhealthy habits faded away as I aligned into more of what I felt was my “true self”.
My life journey has taught me, and continues to, that each of us are powerful in our ability to create miraculous changes in our life.
Being a busy mom of three myself, ages ranging from 17, 11 and 1, I know very well the challenges and sacrifices that arise when caring for those you love. It’s hard to balance self-care, properly nourishing yourself and others, all while putting your best face forward and pretending like you have it all together (while this may be further from the truth). The self-care issues parents face day after day are the areas I feel very called to help. Providing women and parents with the therapeutic modalities and tools to be healthier and happier in relationship with themselves and life so they can carry those blessings back into their family and in all of their relationships.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time in nature, prayer time with God, enjoying life with my family and friends, cooking yummy, nutritious foods for my family or having quite time with a cup of tea. Oh, yes, and as much self care as a busy mama can get!
HOW I WORK…
People have shared with me how they appreciate my intuitive nature and deep listening skills. I show up to each session with fullness of presence and give 100% to each client. I appreciate my clients sharing with me how they feel safe, comforted, and well supported throughout their session. When a client is open and ready to making diet or lifestyle choices, I’ll help guide them to better options or resources to support their growth. Since each person is unique, I like to tailor each session to meet the client where they’re at and what they’re ready to receive. The pressure I use is at a level that is comfortable and therapeutic for the client's healing. I often will use a combination of craniosacral therapy and massage to restore balance to the central nervous system and the body as a whole.
